RBS strengthens Australian equity business

The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) has made several key appointments within its Australian equities business.
 
The team has been strengthened by the appointment of a number of analysts, including Andrew Scott, who is managing director, research covering basic industrials; Daniel Broeren, managing director, research analyst covering retail and healthcare; and Andrew Lyons, managing director, research covering banks.
 
Other appointments include Derek Jellinek, director, senior research analyst; Tony Sherlock, vice-president, research analyst covering develops & contractors; Daniel Blake, vice-president, research analyst, strategy; and Michael Leonard, associate analyst covering diversified financials.
 
RBS has also beefed up its distribution and trading division with the appointment of a number of senior sales traders including Mark Skocic, managing director, senior sales; Tony James, managing director, senior sales trader; Ed McCormack, director, senior sales trader; and Aaron Lagerlow, director, senior sales trader. John Manchee will also complement the team as director, senior derivatives trader.
 
With the ongoing focus on building its offshore distribution network, RBS has appointed Daniel Baker as director, senior sales in Hong Kong; and Stuart Nutting, head of Australian research sales in Stamford, US.
 
Grahame Pratt, RBS’ co-head of markets, Australia says, “These recent appointments provide the equities research team excellent coverage across the key research sectors and a strong team across distribution and trading.”
 
In addition, RBS has hired a team of four algorithmic developers.
 
“Australia has been designated the global centre for RBS’ quantitative and algorithmic trading. This has been an exciting development for our business with significant investment made in technology and people over the past 12 months to create a global hub of excellence with local expertise,” says Pratt.
