MasterCard has named Antonio Corro as country manager of Thailand and Myanmar, and Arn Vogels as country manager of IndoChina (Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia).

Based in Bangkok, Corro will focus on driving the country's expansion strategy for Thailand and Myanmar. He will also continue to lead MasterCard's growth in Myanmar by leveraging opportunities in both the retail and tourism sectors through Myanmar's close links with Thailand.

Prior to this, Corro was country manager of the IndoChina region overseeing Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. In Myanmar, he played a key role in MasterCard becoming the first international payments network to grant a license to a Myanmar bank, paving the way for the very first international card acceptance in the country.

Taking over the role of country manager of IndoChina is Vogels, who has moved to from MasterCard Europe where he held senior account management roles and was responsible for managing relationships with several global banks with Asian operations. Vogels will be based in Ho Chi Minh, and will focus on continuing to drive the expansion of MasterCard in the IndoChina region.

"Thailand, Myanmar and IndoChina are key markets in South East Asia with enormous potential for growth. With their predominantly young populations and positive underlying fundamentals, the outlook for continued growth in these markets is very high. These markets are also very receptive to new technology, and so making them an ideal environment for payments innovation particularly in mobile, e-Commerce and contactless channels. Both Anton and Arn have proven Asian experience and will no doubt help drive MasterCard's further growth in these important markets, in partnership with our customers and partners," said Matthew Driver, president, Southeast Asia, MasterCard.

Corro takes over from Gregg Hirano, who throughout his tenure as country manager, played a key role in expanding MasterCard's presence in the Thailand market.

Corro and Vogels have been with MasterCard since 2001 and 1999 respectively.
