First Data and eWAY have formed a strategic alliance that will enable more Australian businesses to expand into Asia’s rapidly growing e-commerce markets.
This alliance establishes First Data Merchant Solutions (FDMS), First Data’s direct-to-market merchant acquiring business, as a trusted payments provider to eWAY’s merchant network. With First Data’s commitment to help its clients grow their businesses, the collaboration supports Australian businesses in their efforts to expand their geographical footprint and establish their e-commerce capabilities in Asia.
Marc Mathenz, senior vice-president and head of First Data Asia-Pacific, said:
“Asia is one of the world’s fastest growing markets for eCommerce revenues, with eCommerce spending in the region set to surpass half a trillion dollars ($525.5 billion) by the end of this year.
“This partnership combines First Data’s innovative solutions, our longstanding experience in APAC, with eWAY’s strengths in fraud prevention, safety and security to bring full service acquiring and processing capabilities for local businesses looking to gain access to Asia,” he added.
Matt Bullock, CEO and founder of eWAY said: “At eWAY, we are focused on optimizing our payments solutions for merchants to offer them real value in their day-to-day e-commerce transactions.”
“First Data has been working with eWAY for more than 10 years in Australia, processing more than $10 billion worth of transactions, and this new phase of our partnership will enable eWAY and other Australian businesses to grow in this exciting region,” noted Mathenz.
