The Asean integration and the funds passporting scheme and how these twin developments will impact on the Philippine capital market will be analyzed in The Asset 9th Philippine Forum set on October 16 at the Shangri-La Makati.

The Philippine Forum aims to provide an effective vehicle for an insightful and comprehensive discussion on the prospects for capital market growth in the country amid favorable developments in the local economy. The dialogue would also touch on the way forward for the Philippine capital market amid the coming Asean integration, the strengthening markets of the US and Europe and the softening markets of China and emerging Asia.

Headlining the event as keynote speakers are Manuel Huberto B. Gaite, commissioner of the Securities and Exchange Commission and Noritaka Akamatsu, deputy head of the office of regional economic integration, Asian Development Bank.

The distinguished lineup of panelists is made up of Johnny Noe E. Ravalo, assistant governor, Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas; Frederico Ocampo, CIO, BDO Unibank; Batara Sianturi, CEO, Citi Philippines; Stewart Aldcroft, managing director, Citi Securities & Fund Services; Hans B. Sicat, president and CEO, Philippine Stock Exchange; Marvin Fausto, governor, Philippine Fixed Income Exchange and Eduardo M. Olbes, executive vice president and head of wholesale banking segment, Security Bank Corporation.

The forum features two panel sessions, “Braving the competition”, and “A closer look at Asean integration”. Moderators will be The Asset’s editor in chief Daniel Yu and executive editor Bayani Cruz.

Also participating in the event are Alexandra Concio Deveras and Cristina P. Arceo, president and vice president, respectively, of the Fund Managers Association of the Philippines, which has been The Asset’s partner in this annual capital market forum.
