Barclays makes five senior hires in APAC investment banking
Barclays has five new joiners in its investment banking division in Asia-Pacific led by Masaki Inoue who been appointed managing director covering the Japanese financial institutions sector in the investment banking division (IBD). Inoue, who is based in Tokyo, joins Barclays from JP Morgan Securities Japan

Barclays has five new joiners in its investment banking division in Asia-Pacific led by Masaki Inoue who been appointed managing director covering the Japanese financial institutions sector in the investment banking division (IBD). Inoue, who is based in Tokyo, joins Barclays from JP Morgan Securities Japan, where he was a managing director and head of debt capital markets (DCM). During his career, he has covered a wide range of FIG clients through DCM products, including insurance hybrid, bank capital, bank and corporate senior international bonds, JGGIs and Samurai. Previously, he worked at Morgan Stanley Japan and Sumitomo Bank. Inoue reports to Akihiro Kanaya, co-head of financial institutions, Asia-Pacific.

 

Atul Jhavar has been appointed director covering Southeast Asia DCM and India high yield debt. Based in Singapore, he joins Barclays from HSBC where he had worked for 10 years covering high yield debt in Southeast Asia and South Asia; public sector debt in Indonesia and the Philippines; and financial institutions in Indonesia. Jhavar reports to Jon Pratt, head of DCM, Asia-Pacific.

 

Joseph Park has been appointed director covering mergers and acquisitions (M&A) in Korea. Park, who is based in Seoul, joins Barclays from Daiwa Securities Korea where he was head of corporate finance, investment banking and was responsible for corporate finance, DCM and real estate. Previously, he has worked at Woori I&S, Goldman Sachs Korea and Morgan Stanley Korea. Park reports to Jiho Kim, head of IBD Korea.

 

Eric Winarta has been appointed coverage director for Indonesia investment banking. Winarta, who is based in Jakarta, joins Barclays from Standard Chartered, where he led a corporate finance team providing structured financing solutions to Indonesian clients, as well as assisting coverage and relationship bankers in originating, structuring and executing corporate finance transactions in Indonesia. Previously, he has worked at Rothschild and Pyramid International Image. Winarta reports to Sandeep Pahwa, head of IBD, Southeast Asia.

 

Sam Yue re-joined Barclays as director covering M&A for Greater China. Based in Hong Kong, he had worked at Barclays from 2010-2013 and re-joins the firm from the Carlsberg Group, where he was responsible for the strategy development and M&A activities in Asia. Previously, he has worked for Goldman Sachs, Caliburn Partnership and NM Rothschild & Son. He reports to Vanessa Koo, head of M&A, Asia-Pacific.
