Mizuho International, a subsidiary of one of the largest financial institutions in Japan, has gone live with GoldenSource enterprise data management (EDM) platform to be used for client and counterparty management in support of the trading, risk and compliance functions of its investment banking business across its London operations.

Mizuho International is using GoldenSource for automated client on-boarding and as a single source of truth for all customer and counterparty data. Automated workflows have replaced previous error-prone manual processes enabling Mizuho International to swiftly and efficiently on-board customers, getting them trade-ready as quickly as possible. Implemented as a centralized entity master, GoldenSource is used to acquire, validate, manage and distribute customer and counterparty data across the business. This single view of entity data includes an accurate representation of complex corporate hierarchies, enabling business users to better understand client relationships and the overall corporate structure.

“This project is fundamental to Mizuho’s long-term strategy of growing the business,” explained Kevin Gage, chief information officer, at Mizuho International. “GoldenSource has enabled us to significantly reduce on-boarding times by providing a quick and efficient process. Moving to this automated, workflow-based approach has significantly reduced the level of operational risk and improved data quality.  GoldenSource is being used by a broad spectrum of over 140 users, ranging from front office traders and directors to risk and compliance teams. Operational processing and interaction between the different areas of the business have become far more streamlined, improving the business user experience. Furthermore, the transition to a central hub for all legal entity data, is helping to improve our data governance framework as well as facilitate our compliance with existing and emerging regulatory requirements.”

Neill Vanlint, managing director for global sales and operations, said: “Establishing an entity master as a single, trusted source for all customer and counterparty data provides firms with an important competitive advantage. Not only does a centralized approach promote greater operational efficiency and help to reduce costs, it also reduces operational risk, improves time to market and facilitates regulatory compliance.”
