Citi has appointed homegrown Indonesian banker, Batara Sianturi, as the citi country officer (CCO) and Country Head for Indonesia. He replaces Tigor M. Siahaan who helmed Citi’s business in Indonesia since 2011.

Sianturi, who will assume his new role upon regulatory approvals, will be responsible for all Citi businesses across the franchise in Indonesia. He will report to Michael Zink, head of ASEAN and citi country officer for Singapore. This will be Batara’s  third CCO and Country head appointment in his nearly three decade international  career with Citi.

After returning to Indonesia, Sianturi progressed in his career in Consumer Banking by taking on a number of senior appointments as branch network & Sales Director, Retail Banking Director and Country Marketing Director for the Retail Banking and Credit Cards businesses.

In 2005, Batara moved to Hungary and was appointed the consumer business manager before taking on the broader CCO Hungary role in 2007, which later expanded in 2008 to a cluster head role that included12 countries in Central Eastern Europe (Serbia, Montenegro, Bosnia, Macedonia, Albania, Croatia, Slovenia, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Belarus  and Moldova). Educated in the United States, Batara has an MBA, Finance from St John’s University and a Master of Chemical Engineering from Stevens Institute of  Technology, as well as Bachelor of Science degrees in Chemical Engineering and Polymer Science from Case Western Reserve University.
