The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU) has appointed its first non-Japanese executive to head the global corporate business in Indonesia.

Pancaran Affendi, deputy general manager and executive vice president of its Indonesia global corporate segment, will be responsible for managing the business that serves local and global multinational corporates as well as financial institutions based in the country. He was promoted to the new position effective April 1 2015.

Under the new role, Pancaran's core responsibilities would include developing and setting the strategic direction for the bank's global corporate banking business in Indonesia. This would include deepening existing client relationships and driving new growth across broader segments, comprising state- owned enterprises, large local corporations, global MNCs as well as financial institutions.

Pancaran's promotion is part of BTMU's overall strategic intent to leverage on local talents to further spur the growth of our global banking business in Indonesia, says Yusuke Katsuta, general manager of BTMU Jakarta.

Pancaran reports to Katsuta and is based in Jakarta.
