Mastercard has announced the appointment of new division president for Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.  

 
Based in Hong Kong, Choong assumes responsibility for all aspects of the business including strategy, business development, acceptance expansion, operations, marketing and product introductions for the continued growth and expansion of MasterCard in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan. 
 
Prior to this appointment, Choong was chief of ctaff to the CEO of MasterCard based in New York.  A lawyer by training, he has held various leadership roles within the company including Head of Legal for MasterCard’s Asia/Pacific and Middle East & Africa regions based in Singapore where he led a team that provided comprehensive legal, regulatory, public policy and compliance support across both regions.
 
Preceding MasterCard, Choong held a number of key roles with various global organizations including General Counsel for PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting East Asia based in Singapore, and IBM based in Sydney, Australia. 
 
Choong was educated in Canada and Australia.  He is a graduate of the Australian National University with degrees in Law and Arts with a double major in Psychology and Sociology.
