Citi has appointed Hamish Whitehead as managing director for capital markets origination, effective in October.
In this role, Whitehead will have a primary focus on equity capital markets (ECM) origination, with particular emphasis on Melbourne corporates, industry funds and infrastructure funds. He will be reporting to the head of capital markets origination, John McLean.
Whitehead joins Citi from Deutsche Bank where he was a managing director, ECM, with responsibility for overall transaction execution and driving new business development across Australia and international markets.
He has advised on high profile initial public offerings in Australia and New Zealand most recently for Medibank, Meridian Energy, Spotless Group, and Estia Health. He also advised APA Group, Spark Infrastructure, Dexus, Fonterra Group, KKR on Seven West Media, CHAMP, Qantas and many other industrial companies on financing solutions. During his career, he has built market leading positions in equities sales and sales trading in Melbourne, Sydney and London.
With its new appointments, the bank aims to grow both the depth and number of relationships it has in the Australian market.
