BofAML announces senior hires for research team
Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofAML) announced the appointment of Helen Qiao as Greater China chief economist and head of Asia Economics ex-Japan

Bank of America Merrill Lynch (BofAML) announced the appointment of Helen Qiao as Greater China chief economist and head of Asia Economics ex-Japan.

 

Joining the firm on October 8 2015, Qiao will report to Steve Haggerty, head of Asia Pacific Research. She joins the bank from Morgan Stanley, where she served as chief Greater China economist from 2011.

 

Prior to Morgan Stanley, Qiao was senior China economist for six years at Goldman Sachs.

 

BofAML announced two more appointments. Jaejoon Woohas joined as Korea economist and will report to Qiao. Woo joins the bank from DePaul University in Chicago, where he has taught economics since 2003, most recently as a tenured associate professor. He also worked at the International Monetary Fund as a senior economist from 2009 to 2014.

 

The bank also named Ronald Manas North Asia fixed income and foreign exchange strategist in Asia fixed income and FX strategy research. Based in Hong Kong, Man will cover the South Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong markets.

 

Ronald joins BofAML from HSBC in Hong Kong, where he has been an economist since 2010, most recently as an associate director covering South Korea and Asia themes.
