Citi has appointed Andrea Vanara as Asia Pacific head for its treasury advisory group. In this role, he will lead treasury and trade solutions' treasury advisory group in the region, providing multinational clients with advisory and insights on centralization structures, treasury diagnostics and benchmarking, working capital optimization, and industry best practices.

Vanara joins Citi with extensive corporate treasury experience in financing, liquidity, cash management, FX and interest rate risk management, commodities, bank relations, and asset/liability management. He was formerly at FCA Group (formerly Fiat Group), where he led risk management at FCA Bank and held senior roles in group corporate finance and regional treasury operations.

Prior to that, Vanara was in research at the Economy and Finance Department at the University of Torino, Italy. He holds a master's degree in economics from the University of Torino, and is currently completing a mathematics degree and a diploma program at the UK Association of Corporate Treasurers (ACT).

"Across the world, we are seeing increased opportunities to support global and Asian multinationals on their growth journey," said Amol Gupte, region head for treasury and trade management, FX and interest rate risk management, commodities, bank relations, and asset/liability management.

At the same time, Citi has appointed Anahita Shah as associate advisor, reporting to Vanara. Shah returns to Citi from Flipkart Limited, where she was finance manager for treasury and controllership in Singapore. She was previously at Citi India, where she worked in trade finance, risk distribution, and cash management and trade sales, spanning the metals, chemicals, healthcare, and consumer goods industries.

Citi has been strengthening its treasury advisory group in Asia Pacific over the past year. Reporting to Ron Chakravarti, global head of treasury advisory group, Vanara's team also includes Li Yan, who is based in Beijing and leads advisory for clients in the Greater China market; and Mark Sutton, who is based in Singapore and leads advisory in technology and operational process efficiency, working closely with Citi Innovation Labs in Singapore and Dublin to develop new solutions leveraging Big Data. Vanara and Shah are based in Singapore.
