ING Bank has announced that John Sprengelmeijer will be appointed Branch Manager of the bank’s Hong Kong office from 1 December 2015

ING Bank has announced that John Sprengelmeijer will be appointed Branch Manager of the bank’s Hong Kong office from December 1 2015.

He assumes branch manager responsibilities in addition to his current Hong Kong-based role as head of Trade and Commodity Finance (TCF) North Asia. Sprengelmeijer succeeds Dorothy Chan who will leave ING to pursue personal interests outside of work after 16 years of dedicated service to ING.

He will continue to report to Catherine Low, head of International Trade and Export Finance Asia, for his TCF responsibilities, and to Aart Jan den Hartog, country manager and head of Commercial Banking in Greater China and Mongolia, in his branch manager role.

Hong Kong is part of the bank’s Greater China network, which includes our branches in Beijing, Shanghai and Taipei. Sprengelmeijer will therefore be playing an important role to execute growth initiatives at the branch in line with ING’s ambition to expand its Asia client base and grow its industry lending and international business operations.

“With more than 20 years of experience, John will be a key member of the Greater China management team in driving business growth in line with our strategy to become the primary European bank for our clients in the region by taking advantage of our strong industry lending expertise and global network across more than 40 countries.

“We would also like to express our deep regard and appreciation to Dorothy for so ably steering our business operations in Hong Kong over the years and wish her the best in her new adventures,” said Aart Jan den Hartog.

Sprengelmeijer joined ING in 1994 and has held leadership roles in TCF in the Netherlands and Switzerland before relocating to Hong Kong in 2013 to take up his TCF role.
