DBS veteran syndicated loan banker Boey Yin Chong, who is currently head of syndicated finance, is taking on a new role at the bank as head of shipping, aviation and transportation.

Under Boey’s leadership, DBS has ranked consistently among the top five loans’ arranger in Asia. In fact, based on Bloomberg’s league table for the first half of 2016, DBS Group was ranked second in terms of mandated lead arranger’s role for loans in Asia-Pacific, outside of Japan, with a total volume of US$8.048 billion from 77 deals, barely edging ANZ, which has a total volume of US$8.043 billion from 92 deals.
DBS’ performance was a big improvement from the same period of 2015 when it was ranked in ninth place with a volume of US$2.982 billion

A market veteran in loans’ origination, Yin Chong has helped to arrange and underwrite a diverse range of deals regionally. With his deep banking experience regionally, he will expand and deepen the bank’s relationships with clients in the shipping, aviation and transportation segments.

Yin Chong has been with DBS for more than 27 years. Before his appointment to syndicated finance in 2001, he was the general manager for DBS’ Seoul branch in Korea and the first chief representative of DBS India in the 1990s.

With Yin Chong’s new role, Mildred Chua will step up as head of syndicated finance. Another DBS veteran, Chua has been with DBS for more than 19 years. She was based in DBS London covering corporate banking before moving to the syndicated finance team in Singapore in the late 1990s. She was instrumental in developing and arranging syndicated deals to key global clients, especially in the commodities and aircraft leasing sectors.

The appointments will be effective from August 1 2016. Both Yin Chong and Chua will be reporting to Tan Teck Long, group head of large corporates and chief operating officer for institutional banking group.
