Werner Steinmüller, head of Deutsche Bank’s Global Transaction Banking unit, has been confirmed as incoming Chair of the BAFT Transaction Banking Global Leaders group.  He assumes the role in December 2015 and follows Jeremy Wilson, who has chaired the group since its inception almost seven years ago.

 

BAFT, the Bankers Association for Finance and Trade, is an association of financial services providers engaged in international transaction banking and provides thought leadership and education to the industry.  It is perhaps most well-known as joint developer of the Certified Documentary Credit Specialist (CDCS) qualification for trade practitioners, devised in partnership with the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC).

 

During the SIBOS conference in October, BAFT decided to begin a rotation of the role of Chair.  Tod Burwell, president and CEO of BAFT, announced the appointment of Steinmüller on November 25.

 

“We now welcome and congratulate Werner Steinmüller as the incoming Chair of the TBGL,” he writes in a statement.  “As its last remaining founding member, Werner has championed the importance of the TBGL in its mission to provide leadership across the industry.  Werner will serve as Chair of the group for the next year, at which time we will again look to rotate the leadership of the group.”
