Singlife signs up to UN sustainability framework
PSI largest collaborative insurance industry initiative to address ESG risks, opportunities
The Asset 21 Jul 2022

Financial services company Singlife with Aviva has become a signatory of the United Nations’ Principles for Sustainable Insurance (PSI), a global sustainability framework and initiative of the United Nations’ Environment Programme Finance Initiative.

Launched in 2012, the PSI initiative is the largest collaborative programme between the UN and the insurance industry to address ESG risks and opportunities. Signatory companies commit to playing a full role in enabling a healthy, safe, resilient and sustainable society in order to provide quality and reliable risk protection.

Singlife is the first Singapore local entity to be recognized as a signatory within its first year of operations. The company is also a supporter of the UN-led Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures, has committed to reviewing its investment strategy and operations to ensure that it is more sustainable, and pledged to report its climate performance financials.

Pearlyn Phau, the company’s group CEO, says: “Making real change only happens when we can lead by example. With ESG considerations at the core of our business, we are committed to creating and strengthening a more sustainable tomorrow.”
