Citi has appointed Gonzalo Luchetti as head of US consumer banking, effective February 1. He is currently head of consumer banking for Asia-Pacific and EMEA.

Luchetti is the second senior executive from Asia to be transitioned to the role of heading the bank’s US consumer banking. The first was Anand Selva who was appointed US consumer banking head in 2018, and then named head of global consumer bank in November 2020, a role he took on just this January.

As consumer banking head for Asia-Pacific and EMEA since 2018, Luchetti has shown "unwavering client focus [which] has driven the region’s strong performance, maintaining profitability during the Covid-19 crisis, driving double-digit growth in mobile users, investment revenue and net new money in 2020, and reducing complaints by 50% over the past two years", says Selva in an internal memo.

Luchetti is a 14-year Citi veteran with expertise spanning wealth management, retail banking, credit cards and insurance, digitizing the client experience and driving scale through partnerships to create a seamless experience for clients.

His latest appointment marks his return to the United States, where he was based as global head of wealth management and insurance prior to moving to Asia.

Citi is searching for a new head of consumer banking for Asia-Pacific and EMEA.
