Credit Suisse reinforces APAC franchise
Sunil Dhupelia named co-head of equity capital markets in the region
The Asset 12 Apr 2021

Credit Suisse has appointed Sunil Dhupelia as co-head of equity capital markets (ECM), Asia-Pacific, together with Johnson Chui, effective immediately. This is in addition to Dhupelia's existing role as head of APAC equity syndicate, investment bank.

Since joining Credit Suisse in 2018, Dhupelia has established a strong track record in the origination and distribution of equity capital raisings across the region. As co-heads of ECM in Asia-Pacific, Chui and Dhupelia will focus on driving origination efforts to expand and deepen the bank’s client footprint, driving expansion in growing segments such as private capital markets (including special-purpose acquisition companies) and secondary listings, as well as further establishing its ECM business.

Equity issuance in Asia-Pacific was up 85% in 2020 from the previous year and up over 200% so far this year compared to the same period last year. Credit Suisse raised over US$20 billion of equity for clients across 143 public transactions during the period.

Dhupelia will report to Zeth Hung and Edwin Low, co-heads of investment banking & capital markets, APAC, in his ECM role, and will continue to report to Neil Hosie, head of APAC equities, investment bank, in his equity syndicate role.
