BNP Paribas names head of APAC prime and synthetic sales
James Scully returns to French bank after three years with Credit Suisse
The Asset 17 Dec 2021

BNP Paribas has appointed James Scully as head of prime and synthetic sales for Asia-Pacific. In the newly created role, Scully will be responsible for all prime client-facing teams across sales, sales trading and client solutions in the region.

He will be based in Hong Kong and report to Benjamin Dufour, head of prime solutions and financing, APAC, and Brian McCappin, head of institutional sales, APAC.

Scully returns to the French bank after spending the last three years with Credit Suisse as head of prime product sales, APAC. Prior to that, he was with BNP Paribas from 2012 to 2018 where he established and drove the APAC prime client coverage teams. Previously, he held a variety of positions on both buyside and sellside.

BNP Paribas is now finalizing the integration of Deutsche Bank’s prime and electronic execution platforms. It had agreed to acquire the German lender’s clients in July 2019 after the latter decided to exit equities sales and trading in a major restructuring.
