ING Bank has appointed Anand Sachdev as country manager of Singapore, effective June 21. He will report to Anju Abrol, head of wholesale banking for Asia-Pacific.
Sachdev succeeds Erwin Maspolim, who will take on the responsibility of covering Indonesia and Vietnam as head of Southeast Asia – representative offices, also effective June 21. Maspolim will continue to report to Abrol.
Sachdev joins ING from Westpac Banking Corporation, where he was Westpac’s CEO for Singapore and chief operating officer for Asia since 2017.
He joined the Australian lender in Sydney in 2005 and has since accumulated over 17 years of experience by taking on increasingly senior roles across Asia, Australia and the Pacific Islands. In 2013, he relocated to Singapore to support Westpac’s growth in the region.
In his new role, Maspolim will focus on strategically defining and growing ING’s profile in Vietnam and Indonesia. He will additionally be involved in providing guidance and oversight on any businesses in other Southeast Asian markets where ING is not present on the ground.
Maspolim has over 25 years of experience in the front office, leading corporate and project finance across multiple sectors such as power, utilities, renewables, water, waste, technology, media and telecommunications, healthcare and infrastructure in Asia-Pacific.
Singapore is ING’s Asia-Pacific headquarters with about 600 employees. ING offers wholesale banking across 11 markets in the region, namely Australia, China, Hong Kong SAR, India, Indonesia, Japan, the Philippines, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam.
