CSCEC finishes main construction work on Ethiopia bank headquarters
Addis Ababa tower is on schedule to open in November 2020
Michael Marray 8 Oct 2019

The main construction work has been completed on the new headquarters building of Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in Addis Ababa.

China State Construction Engineering Corporation (CSCEC) recently told Xinhua that it is on schedule to open in November 2020.

The 52-storey building is costing US$299 million, and at 206 metres is already the tallest structure in East Africa

It is located a few miles from the African Union (AU) headquarters, which was also built by CSCEC. Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) is the country's largest commercial bank.

CSCEC is also the main contractor on Ethiopia's new Addis Ababa National Stadium, after an agreement was signed with the Ethiopian Ministry of Youth and Sports in January 2016. It will be open in time for the 2020 African National Championship (CHAN 2020), an international football tournament that only features players with clubs in their own domestic leagues.
