Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group’s banking entity, The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ, has appointed Duncan Connellan as managing director of its event finance team in Australia, as part of its Asian Investment Banking Division.

The event finance team was set up in September 2015 to provide solutions and strategic financing for clients doing business in Asia (ex-Japan) and Oceania. Connellan will be responsible for expanding the unit’s business and client coverage in the Oceania region.

Connellan will report to Sanjeev Kumar, deputy general manager and head of event finance for Asia & Oceania.

Connellan has operated most recently as an independent debt advisor. He brings to MUFG 18 years’ experience in loan capital markets, leveraged finance and project finance. He was formerly managing director, head of loan capital markets and leveraged finance, Australia for Barclays. He has previously held appointments with RBS in London, and National Australia Bank in London and Melbourne.
