THE Asset Events proudly commences the 12th Asian Bond Markets Summit in Singapore today, highlighting twenty years of development since the Asian financial crisis in 1997.

One significant change over the past two decades has been the rise of China’s bond market, which has slowly become the third-largest bond market in the world, behind Japan and the United States.

There’s also been the shift towards infrastructure spending and the emergence of environmental, social and governance (ESG) factors as a viable investment strategy, particularly in the area of green bonds.

The Bond Summit will cover a wide range of topics, from the Hong Kong-China Bond Connect, to the implications of Indonesia’s ratings upgrade, to the impact of financial technology on Asia’s bond markets.

The event will also include several key speakers such as the senior advisor of the sustainable development & climate change department at the Asian Development Bank, Noritaka Akamatsu; the director of risk management group, public debt management office at the Ministry of Finance Thailand, Paroche Hutachareon; the director of government debt securities of the Ministry of Finance Indonesia, Loto Srinaita Ginting; former deputy director general of external finance and public debt management department of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, Rithikone Phoummasack; the CEO of Cagamas, Chung Chee Leong; and the group executive & head of treasury and markets at DBS, Andrew Ng.
