Rishi Jalan promoted to director, debt capital markets at Citi after working on several landmark transactions
The Asset 15 Jan 2018

RISHI Jalan has been promoted as director at debt capital markets (DCM) at Citi. Jalan has been with Citi since 2010 and during this period, he has worked on the DCM origination team in India covering investment grade, high yield and financial institution group (FIG) transactions. He then moved to the Asia debt syndicate in Hong Kong, expanding his coverage to G3 and local currency bond transactions across Asia.

Jalan has worked on several landmark transactions, including Vedanta Resources’ any-and-all tender offer with US$1 billion new issue. This was the first tender offer by an Indian issuer in accordance with the amended guidelines permitting shortened offer periods.

He was also involved in the US$670 million trade for WTT, representing the first rated Hong Kong telecom high yield bond offering in over a decade and the largest ever bond market debut by a local Hong Kong high yield corporate.

Jalan likewise worked on the US$575 million acquisition financing high yield bond transaction for Indika Energy of Indonesia to fund their purchase of Kideco Jaya Agung. The issue achieved a record low coupon for a mining company in Indonesia and for a seven-year mining bond in Asia.

Jalan holds an MBA from the Rotman School of Management in Toronto, Canada.
