It is not just tasty dim sum bonds that has been whetting the appetite of fixed income investors. Since the middle of 2016, masala bonds are stirring growing interest especially as their attractive yields provide a tasty alternative for yield-hungry investors. Given India’s financing needs of up to US$500 billion over the next five years to support especially infrastructure projects, masala bonds are tipped to become an important addition to capital raising expected from Indian corporates, financial institutions, non-bank entities and state-owned agencies.
