Value Partners names new CEO

Hong Kong-listed asset manager Value Partners Group has appointed June Wong as chief executive officer, effective July 1. Her responsibilities include managing the group’s overall business, corporate strategy, and operations.

She reports directly to the co-chairmen and co-chief investment officers Dato’ Seri Cheah Cheng Hye and Louis So.

Wong joined the group in October 2021, and served most recently as its president. She was appointed as an executive director of the board on January 24 2022 and is currently a member of the leadership committee and the risk management committee of the group.

She has three decades of experience and expertise in the finance, actuarial, and asset management industries across Asia. Before joining Value Partners, she was Asia ex-Japan CEO for State Street Global Advisors. She also served as vice-chairman for Asia-Pacific at Columbia Threadneedle. Prior to that, she served as senior managing director and head of Asia ex-Japan institutional business at AllianceBernstein and head of business development at HSBC Asset Management.

Wong currently serves on the advisory committee of the Securities and Futures Commission of Hong Kong. She holds a bachelor degree in economics from Macquarie University, Australia. She is a fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of Australia as well as the Actuarial Society of Hong Kong.

According to a filing with the Hong Kong stock exchange, Wong, 56, will receive an annual remuneration of HK$3,166,800, including a fixed monthly salary and a discretionary Lunar New Year bonus equivalent to one month’s salary. In addition, she is entitled to join a year-end discretionary bonus scheme, under which the company has agreed to make available up to 20% to 23% of a net profit pool as management bonus. She is also eligible to participate in the company’s share option scheme.
