J.P. Morgan names Singapore SCO, Asia-Pacific vice-chair
Wai Mei Hong and Edmund Lee, bank veterans, take up new roles and responsibilities
The Asset 20 Sep 2022

J.P. Morgan has appointed, as of October 1, Wai Mei Hong as its senior country officer (SCO) for Singapore, reporting to Sudhir Goel, managing director, head of sales and marketing, markets and platform services, Asia-Pacific. She will also continue in her role as head of corporate banking for Singapore and Asean, reporting in this capacity to Oliver Brinkmann, head of corporate banking and CEO global corporate bank, Asia-Pacific.

Hong, who will succeed Edmund Lee, will play an essential role facilitating client engagement across lines of business, drive local governance and controls, ensure strong coordination across the business and functions as well as support employee and broader community initiatives.

With over 25 years of experience in the banking industry, 15 of these with J.P. Morgan, the bank emphasizes that Hong is well positioned to confidently lead and partner across the platform to drive the Singapore franchise’s continued success.

Lee will become the bank’s vice-chair of Asia-Pacific, reporting to Filippo Gori, CEO for Asia-Pacific. In his new role, Lee will focus on strengthening relationships with external stakeholders.

During his nine years as SCO for Singapore, Lee has looked to create a more inclusive work environment by engaging colleagues throughout the firm as well as supporting the bank's dialogue with government agencies and regulators.
