Citi names four to Asia-Pacific markets business
Mario Serafino, Mohit Singh, Sue Lee, Badrinivas NC bring years of regional experience
The Asset 2 Dec 2022

Mario Serafino is appointed sole head of Asia-Pacific equity derivatives sales. In addition to managing the Asia-Pacific sales teams across equity derivatives flow and delta one, as well as multi-asset group (MAG) structuring, Serafino also leads the solutions for financial intermediaries (SFI) team in financial institution sales and solutions (FISS) for the region. Based in Hong Kong, he will work closely with the rest of the FISS regional sales teams to maximize commercial opportunities for the product set. Prior to joining Citi in October 2022, Serafino spent the past 19 years at JP Morgan, most recently heading the institutional solution sales and cross-asset third-party distribution team across Asia-Pacific.

Mohit Singh and Sue Lee are appointed co-heads of FISS for markets in Asia effective January 1 2023. Singh and Lee will be responsible for executing Citi’s FISS strategy across financial institutions in Asia, which focuses on client experience, Citi’s role as the first line of defence, monetization and creating a culture of excellence. Singh is based in Hong Kong while Lee is in Singapore.

Singh is currently head of global spread product (GSP) sales for Asia and co-head of generalist sales. He has extensive sales experience across foreign exchange (FX), rates and GSP for both institutional and corporate clients. Therefore, on a day-to-day basis, he will focus more on the public side effort of the bank’s product specialist, country generalist and relationship management teams. He will partner with Lee to grow GSP financing and securitization.

Lee was previously co-head of equity derivatives distribution and MAG in Asia, including overseeing the SFI team. She has led Citi’s strategic equities solutions in Asia for many years. She has a wealth of experience in partnering with all parts of the bank on large transactions. Lee will therefore take the lead in the origination of private side markets opportunities across all asset classes with financial institutions. In doing so, she will work closely with the commercial bank and global wealth teams.

Badrinivas NC is appointed markets treasury regional head for Asia-Pacific. Badrinivas, who will be based in Singapore, will be responsible for overseeing the management of markets treasury activity across Asia-Pacific within permissible regulatory and internal frameworks and risk tolerances across the region’s legal vehicles. Badrinivas is currently the head of markets for Citi, South Asia, and country treasurer, Citi India, with over a decade of experience in the Indian fixed-income, money and FX markets, and is fully conversant with the present and evolving local and global regulatory framework related to balance sheet management. His overall banking experience spans 23 years across products and functions.
