LGM Investments, a part of BMO Global Asset Management, has named Stephen Ma as head of Greater China equities. He will be based in Hong Kong and will report directly to Thomas Vester, chief investment officer at LGM.
Before joining LGM, Ma was responsible for about US$4 billion of assets in China and Hong Kong funds at Fidelity, where he began in 1997 and was appointed a portfolio manager in 2006. Prior to Fidelity, he was an investment analyst at EK Investment Management and Hambro Pacific Fund Management, with a focus on Southeast Asia. He graduated from Cambridge University in 1990 and holds an MA in management studies/engineering science.
LGM manages global emerging, Asian and frontier markets mandates. The firm's specialist China mandates include a Canadian-domiciled mutual fund. LGM plans to launch a China-focused UCITS vehicle for investors in Asia, the Middle East and Europe.
