RBC Wealth Management, part of Royal Bank of Canada, has announced additions to its private banking teams in Hong Kong and Singapore. Andrew Cheng joins the Hong Kong team, reporting to Vicky Lin, deputy head, private banking, Greater China. At the same time, Andrew White joins the Singapore team, reporting to Dom Lane, executive director & team head, private banking.

Lin and Lane joined RBC Wealth Management in June 2019.

The expanded team will work with clients in Southeast and Northeast Asia to provide market-leading service to Asia’s global families, which are internationally mobile high net worth families with complex financial structures that often span multiple geographies. These clients are a key growth segment for RBC Wealth Management in Asia.

Andrew Cheng joins RBC Wealth Management in Hong Kong as executive director, private banking with more than 30 years of experience in financial services, primarily focused on serving the needs of high net worth (HNW) private banking clients.

Cheng joins from CA Indosuez (Switzerland) in Hong Kong where he was managing director, and prior to that, ANZ Bank in Hong Kong where he was market head – China, private bank.

Cheng started his career with Royal Bank of Canada in Toronto and has held roles at a number of international banks in Hong Kong and China including Standard Chartered Bank, UBS AG, HSBC and Julius Baer. Cheng holds an MBA in finance/investment from York University, Toronto.

“He has deep and broad relationships with individuals and institutions in North America, understands regional markets intimately and is well positioned to help meet the unique investment needs of Asia’s Global Families from day one,” says Lin.

At the same time, Andrew White joins RBC Wealth Management’s Singapore office as director, private banking, and will be primarily focused on the business’ Asia global families client segment. He brings 14 years of industry experience, 12 of which was spent with Sandaire, an international multi-family office, most recently as Chief Investment Officer (Asia) for Sandaire’s Singapore office. Andrew is a CFA Charterholder.

“His investment background and experience working with multi-generational international families will help RBC Wealth Management anticipate and meet the financial planning needs of global families across the region. His background and knowledge of the UK financial services industry will be particularly valuable to clients with ties to that market,” says Lane.
