FWD Group appoints Petter Sternby as group corporate transactions officer
Sternby joins insurer from Standard Chartered to fill new role

FWD Group has announced the appointment of Petter Sternby as group corporate transactions officer. Petter will lead FWD's efforts to align with public company standards and will be based in Hong Kong, reporting directly to Craig Merdian, FWD group chief financial officer. Merdian said, "We're delighted to welcome Petter to the group. He has a wealth of industry and transactional experience across Asia. His insight from the banking sector will be a tremendous asset for us moving forward." Sternby said, "It's a really exciting time to join one of the fastest growing insurers in Asia. I am looking forward to embracing the opportunities and challenges presented by this new role and help bring a fresh perspective and experience as we aspire to change the way people feel about insurance."

Petter has over 25 years of investment banking experience spanning Asia, Europe and South America. He joins from Standard Chartered Bank where he most recently was head of the financial institutions advisory team and previously head of financial institutions for Greater China and North Asia. He has led numerous M&A, IPO and equity transactions including advising on deals with SwissRe, SunLife, MetLife, UOB and Maybank. Petter moved to Hong Kong in 2010 with Nomura as head of the financial institutions group in Asia. He also previously worked for Lehman Brothers and Morgan Stanley.
