Barclays has appointed Matt Pecot as head of markets for the Asia-Pacific, in addition to his current role as head of equities for the Asia-Pacific. Pecot will continue to be based in Hong Kong and will report directly to Stephen Dainton, head of global markets.
Pecot is responsible for driving and leading the Asia-Pacific markets business which focuses on credit, equities (including derivatives, prime and cash electronic execution services) and macro in markets including Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and India.
Pecot joined Barclays in 2018 as head of equities, where he was responsible for leading the franchise in the Asia-Pacific. The Asia-Pacific equities business is part of Barclays’ global equity offering of equity financing and derivatives solutions as well as maintains electronic execution-only services for global cash equities.
With close to 25 years of industry experience, Pecot was head of Prime Services and head of equities distribution at Credit Suisse in the Asia-Pacific prior to joining Barclays. He had managed the client-facing teams across cash, derivatives, and prime, and was instrumental in the team achieving a top two position in prime services.
Dainton comments, “Since joining Barclays, Matt has established a good momentum in the equities business. We are very confident that his appointment will continue to drive our markets business forward in Asia Pacific, a region that is an important part of Barclays’ global network.”
