Citi names new managing director for China investment banking
Citi has appointed Simon Yuan as managing director, head of China Financial Institutions Group, Investment Banking

Citi has appointed Simon Yuan as managing director, head of China Financial Institutions Group, Investment Banking. Yuan will be based in Hong Kong, reporting to Will McLane and Catherine Cai.

 

His appointment is in line with the bank’s move to grow its business in China. Before joining Citi, Yuan was managing director and co-head of Asia Financial Institution Group at Credit Suisse.

 

Prior to that, he worked at Merrill Lynch, Goldman Sachs, and HSBC, in Hong Kong and Beijing.  He has established many senior relationships with financial regulators and key clients in China and across Asia Pacific.

 

Yuan is native Chinese. He holds an MBA from Stanford Graduate School of Business and a BS in Management Science from Fudan University.
