HSBC names Singapore global banking head
Gilbert Ng has extensive corporate finance, risk management experience, client network
The Asset 3 May 2024

UK-headquartered HSBC has appointed Gilbert Ng as its head of global banking (GB) for Singapore, succeeding Priya Kini who has taken on a new role as the head of commercial banking for Singapore.

Prior to joining HSBC, Ng was head of corporate banking for Singapore at Citigroup. With over 17 years at Citigroup, he has extensive corporate finance and risk management experience as well as a strong client network that spans across local large corporates, the public sector, financial institutions and multinationals in Singapore.

“Ng’s track record in building a resilient client coverage business will further accelerate our growth in Singapore,” says Wong Kee Joo, CEO, HSBC Singapore. “As more global businesses look to set up their regional headquarters and treasury centres in Singapore to facilitate their growth in the region, it is critical that we can tap on his deep market knowledge to support our clients as they scale up.”

Christina Ma, the bank’s GB head for head of Asia-Pacific, adds: “Ng joins the GB team at a pivotal time. In the past year, we have maintained a strong business in Singapore supporting our clients’ growth ambitions in Asia. We are confident that under his leadership, we will be able to capture more opportunities and continue to drive strategic client relationships.”
