Siew Meng Tan will succeed Bernard Rennell as regional head of Global Private Banking (GPB), Asia-Pacific at HSBC Private Bank following Rennell's appointment as senior advisor to the CEO, Key Client Coverage, GPB.

HSBC Private Bank has announced Siew Meng Tan will succeed Bernard Rennell as regional head of Global Private Banking (GPB), Asia-Pacific with effect from 1 January 2017, subject to regulatory approval. At the same time, Rennell has been appointed senior advisor to the CEO, Key Client Coverage, GPB.

These appointments follow Rennell’s request to transition from his current role as Regional Head of GPB, Asia-Pacific to focus more on the client side.
Tan joins GPB from Commercial Banking, where she was most recently regional head of Global Trade and Receivables Finance, Asia-Pacific.  Tan has been with HSBC for 12 years and, prior to her current role, has held a variety of senior roles including CEO Mauritius and CEO Thailand.

As senior advisor to the CEO, Key Client Coverage, GPB, Rennell will have responsibility for developing and managing relationships with key clients across Asia-Pacific and globally and will also continue to lead Family Governance and Family Enterprise Succession globally. Rennell has been working closely over a number of years with the owners of many of HSBC’s key corporate clients and this move will enable him to increase his focus in this area to the benefit of both clients and the Bank.
“Siew Meng has performed a number of senior roles with HSBC and with her considerable experience on the corporate side is well placed to drive further growth as we continue to invest in our private banking business in Asia-Pacific,” said Peter Boyles, global CEO of HSBC Private Bank. “We would like to thank Bernard for his strong leadership of GPB in Asia-Pacific which has resulted in significant growth through collaboration across business lines and considerable strengthening of our client investment proposition in the region.”
