HSBC has named Jonathan Drew as head of global banking (GB) sustainability for the Asia-Pacific region, with the additional global responsibility of leading the coordination of client transition plan assessments by working with other GB sustainability leads in other regions.

Drew, who will be based in Hong Kong and report to Alexi Chan, head of global banking sustainability, and Stuart Lea, head of global banking, South Asia, and global head of real asset finance, has a long track record in delivering sustainable finance solutions for the group’s clients across Asia-Pacific. He has also played a leadership role on various industry bodies, including that of chair of the Asia-Pacific Loan Market Association’s Green Loans Committee. He will continue to play a senior role in key environmental, social and governance (ESG) deals in Asia-Pacific.

The bank has also appointed Farnam Bidgoli as global head of ESG solutions within the strategic solutions group in capital financing and investment banking coverage. Based in London, she will report to Nik Dhanani, managing director, global banking and markets, and Chan.

Under Bidgoli’s leadership over the past two years, the ESG solutions team in the Europe, Middle East and Africa region has developed market-leading capabilities to embed ESG considerations in strategic event transactions and to support clients in leveraging sustainability as they access capital markets. Bidgoli brings extensive experience, having previously co-headed the bank’s sustainable bonds team. Before that he spent seven years at Sustainalytics, the leading independent global provider of ESG and corporate governance research and ratings to investors.
