Standard Chartered has appointed Eugene Klerk as head of environmental, social and governance (ESG) research as part of the bank’s expansion of its global research coverage to formally include thematic ESG research.

With over 20 years of research experience in emerging markets, Klerk, who will be based in London, joins from Credit Suisse and will report to Eric Robertsen, the bank’s global head of research and chief strategist.

Klerk will lead the bank’s efforts to provide content in the ESG space across regions and product areas and support its corporate, commercial and institutional banking business growth across sustainable finance and ESG.
