CCB Singapore, Gprnt ink ESG data platform pact
Parties aim to develop solutions to aid Chinese, Singapore companies with disclosure
Tom King 3 May 2024

China Construction Bank Singapore branch (CCB Singapore) has signed a statement of intent with Gprnt, Singapore’s blockchain-based network of registries, to record and maintain provenance of environmental, social and governance (ESG) certifications and verified data.

The statement, the bank notes, sets out how the parties will explore ESG data model interoperability, assessment framework normalization and product innovation to better deploy sustainable financing to corporate clients, especially small and medium-sized enterprises.

Gprnt is the culmination of the Monetary Authority of Singapore’s Project Greenprint and offers an enhanced digital reporting solution for businesses by harnessing technologies, such as data integration and artificial intelligence, to simplify the way ESG data are originated, organized and used.

Sopnendu Mohanty, the authority’s chief fintech officer, states that Gprnt was delighted to partner with CCB Singapore to develop data and disclosure solutions that can aid Chinese and Singapore companies to carry out domestic and international ESG disclosures.

When fully implemented, Gprnt’s reporting solution is expected to help companies automate their ESG reporting process, and allow end users (such as financial institutions, regulators and large corporates) to access relevant data and timely insights to support their sustainability-related decision making.

The platform will also work with the wider ecosystem to support enhanced data access and product innovation by the ESG community.
