A new breed of customized index solutions
Wilshire and Hang Seng Indexes expand collaboration to support Greater China investors navigating global markets
Bayani S. Cruz 27 Oct 2023

The rapidly evolving dynamics of global markets have highlighted the need for new tools to help investors navigate the current investing environment.

A growing number of investors are seeking more diversified index solutions that will enable them to gain exposure to global investment opportunities. This highlights the need for index and portfolio customization with technology-enabled services.

Hang Seng Indexes (HSIL) has partnered with Wilshire Indexes to offer a new range of customized index solutions for institutional investors based in Greater China.

The collaboration seeks to provide institutional investors in the region with enriched product offerings to capture emerging opportunities across global markets.

“With the right combination of modern portfolio solutions, global index expertise, and deep local investment insights, Greater China investors can begin to identify new opportunities and drive differentiation,” says Mark Makepeace, chief executive officer of Santa Monica, California-headquartered Wilshire Indexes. “We are excited to partner with Hang Seng Indexes Company to help asset managers and institutional investors across the region access and deploy a range of custom index capabilities to better analyze and capture emerging investment opportunities.”

Last year the two index providers joined hands to launch the Hang Seng Climate Change 1.5°C Target Index, providing a new benchmark for investors seeking to incorporate climate considerations into their investment portfolios.

Greater synergy

Wilshire and HSIL now seek to expand this collaboration to achieve greater synergy by harnessing their respective capabilities and expertise.

The two firms will expand their service scope to cover regional as well as global markets and formulate enriched product offerings to further support investors in Greater China with comprehensive offerings to seize emerging opportunities worldwide.

The partnership will leverage HSIL’s deep knowledge of the Greater China market and Wilshire’s robust data capabilities and technological know-how to handle massive data covering various markets and asset classes as well as provide customized solutions.

Moreover, with the adoption of Wilshire’s advanced data and analytics tools, the partnership will enable asset managers and institutional investors to quickly analyze their portfolio performance and investment opportunities across global markets.

“As a company deeply rooted in Hong Kong, Hang Seng Indexes Company has been dedicated to serving the sophisticated investment needs and risk appetite of institutional investors in the Greater China region. We are delighted to team up with Wilshire Indexes to advance our capabilities and provide investors with comprehensive index solutions,” says Anita Mo, chief executive officer of Hang Seng Indexes Company. “This collaboration also reflects our commitment to becoming the trusted index partner with a wide array of index solutions for overseas investors to harness investment opportunity in China.”
