Resona, iCapital launch KKR private market offerings in Japan
Strategies seek to support diversification goals of corporate pension clients
The Asset 2 May 2024

Resona Bank has partnered with fintech platform iCapital to launch multi-strategy private market offerings for Japanese corporate pensions.

The offerings include private equity, infrastructure, private credit, and real estate strategies managed by US investment firm KKR.

“Launching this range of investment offerings will allow our clients to explore allocations to private markets, which can help support diversification goals and potentially offer enhanced return and income opportunities,” says Resona Bank executive officer Keishi Yamashita.

Resona Bank and KKR, alongside iCapital, have curated the yen-denominated offerings in a semi-liquid format with a currency hedging solution.

“We are excited that iCapital’s highly automated technology platform and operational efficiencies enable both Resona Bank and KKR to offer such unique multi-strategy products to numerous clients leveraging digital workflows and reducing paper-based processes,” says iCapital Japan chairman Masato Degawa. “Going forward, distributors and asset managers will be able to introduce more private markets products with much shorter lead times in Japan.”
