A second line for the China-Russia oil pipeline has begun commercial operations, which will double annual throughput to 30 million tonnes.
Construction on the 942-kilometre second line began in Summer 2016. It originates in the Russian town of Skovorodino, and enters China at Mohe, running to the city of Daqing in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province. The line passes north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
The first line from Mohe to Daqing began operations in January 2011, with an annual capacity of 15 million tonnes.
The second line was built in parallel to the existing first line by PetroChina Pipeline Company. The commissioning of the second line is an important step to strengthen cooperation on energy supplies between China and Russia.
