CREDIT Suisse has appointed Mia Idora Ismail as head of Malaysia coverage in its Asia-Pacific investment banking & capital markets (IBCM) department

Based in Kuala Lumpur, Ismail’s focus will be on driving the growth of Credit Suisse’s IBCM business in Malaysia, a market which represents an important part of its Southeast Asia franchise.

In this role, she will be charged with broadening the bank’s relationships with Malaysian clients, including entrepreneurs and corporates, as well as delivering the full range of Credit Suisse’s integrated bank offering.

She will report to Pankaj Goel and Rizal Gozali, Credit Suisse’s co-heads of IBCM, Southeast Asia.

Ismail brings a strong client network and over twenty years of experience in mergers & acquisitions, equity capital markets and corporate fund raisings to Credit Suisse. She joins the bank following seven years at Maybank Investment Bank Berhad, where she led a successful local franchise as co-head of Malaysia mergers & acquisitions.

Malaysia is an important part of Credit Suisse’s Southeast Asia franchise, with an established presence in the market since 1995. Credit Suisse has advised on numerous marquee and innovative transactions. These include recent block placements in shares of CIMB Group Holdings Berhad (US$610 million and US$132 million) and of Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (US$113 million), as well as a US$387 million primary placement for Maxis Berhad.
