The 4th ETF Asia Summit starts in Taipei, Taiwan, examining the fast growth in the market to date. At end 2017 the Asian exchange traded fund (ETF) market was estimated to have US$430 billion of assets under management, triple the size of five years ago. There is much more room to grow. The Asian market still lags behind North America (US$3.4 trillion) and Europe (US$757.5 billion). Within Asia the ETF market centres on Japan, with US$275.8 billion allocated to Japan ETFs. Investors in the rest of Asia are starting to uncover what is behind the surging activity.
The 4th ETF Asia Summit is focusing on key topics that aim to expand the market. These include the role Asian exchanges can play in enhancing ETF liquidity and how policy initiatives like ETF connect can attract more investors. Key speakers will share their insights at the summit including: Julian Liu, president and chief executive officer, Yuanta STIC; Andy Chang, president, Cathay SITE; and Christopher Friese, head of Asia, Lyxor ETF, Societe Generale.
