BNP Paribas scoops big win in Treasury and Trade Awards
The Asset recognizes the best in treasury, trade, supply chain and risk management in Asia including BNP Paribas, Deutsche Bank, DBS, HSBC and Standard Chartered

IN one of the largest gatherings of service providers, CFOs and treasurers in Asia, The Asset hosted the annual Triple A Treasury, Trade, Supply Chain and Risk Management Awards on April 30 in Hong Kong to recognize the best service, the best solutions, and the best CFOs and treasurers of the year.

Among those honoured include Maojin Wang of Wurth International Trading, who was conferred Triple A CFO of the Year for China; John Mulcahy of CK Hutchison and Eddie Mak of Kerry Logistics who received awards for Triple A Treasurer of the Year, regional; and Fiona Zhang of Education First, who took home the honour of Triple A Treasurer of the Year, China.

The night’s high point was also the Oscar-style revelation of the best service providers in Asia. BNP Paribas scooped the prestigious Triple A Transaction Bank of the Year Award, DBS Bank took the top prize of Triple A Best in Treasury and Cash Management, and HSBC was named Triple A Best Working Capital and Trade Finance Bank. DBS Bank also retained its title as Triple A Best E-Solutions and Technology Partner Bank.

Other awards revealed that night included the Triple A Best Supply Chain Bank, which went to BNP Paribas. Deutsche Bank took home a number of top honours including Triple A Best Structured Trade Finance Bank, Triple A Best Risk Management Bank, Triple A Best in ECA Financing, Triple A Best in NBFIs and Triple A Best in New Economy.

Another standout winner was Standard Chartered, which won the Triple A Best in MNCs/LLCs and Triple A Best in Liquidity Management. In the special citation for renminbi, it was a tit-for-tat battle between Standard Chartered and HSBC, as Standard Chartered wrestled the much-coveted Triple A Best RMB Bank from last year’s winner, HSBC. Meanwhile, The Triple A Best Renminbi Liquidity Management Bank was picked up by HSBC, taking it away from Standard Chartered, last year’s winner. Bank of China retained the accolade for the Triple A Renminbi Settlement Bank.

The Asset Triple A Industry Leadership Award went to Joyce Tee, who was named Triple A Best SME Banker of the Year, regional with John Wong of Hang Seng Bank named SME Banker of the Year for Hong Kong. Receiving the Triple A Innovation Banker of the Year was Gautam Jain of Standard Chartered who will be taking on a new role at the bank’s digital affiliate, SC Ventures.

The Asset Triple A Awards for Treasury, Trade, Supply Chain and Risk Management are defining industry recognition in Asia-Pacific. The awards are based on presentations from the participating banks, in-depth conversations with the clients of the banks and the annual Asset Benchmark Research Treasury Review, a quality ranking survey. The 5th annual Treasury Review attracted a record number of respondents with over 1,100 CFOs, treasurers and treasury professionals sharing their insights on the best banks, best practices and leading themes and trends.
