New chief risk officer for ING
Ljiljana Čortan will also join the management board (banking) from January 1 2020
The Asset 6 Nov 2020

ING will appoint a new chief risk officer. Ljiljana Čortan will be appointed to that role, and also as a member of the management board - banking, effective January 1 2021. The supervisory board will propose to shareholders to appoint her as a member of the executive board and chief risk officer of ING Group at the annual general meeting in April 2021.

Čortan will succeed Steven van Rijswijk, who was appointed chief executive officer of ING effective July 1 2020. Until recently, Čortan served as chief risk officer of HypoVereinsbank - UniCredit Bank (HVB) in Germany.

In order to ensure a smooth transition, Karst Jan Wolters, who has performed the day-to-day risk management activities since July 1 2020, will support Čortan during the first phase of her onboarding in 2021.
