BNP Paribas Asset Management has appointed Rick Chen as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of BNP Paribas Asset Management (BNPP AM) Taiwan. He succeeds Christine Jih, who has decided to retire from the asset management industry.

In this role, Chen will continue to oversee the development and execution of the firm’s long-term business strategy in Taiwan. In addition to managing BNPP AM Taiwan’s daily operations, he is also responsible for managing close relationships with both internal and external stakeholders while representing BNPP AM’s global capabilities to local clients.

Chen has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry and was most recently Taiwan head of Fidelity where he significantly grew the local business’ assets under management during his tenure. Prior to that, he held various senior positions at the consumer banking arm of Citi, Standard Chartered Bank and GE Money.

In his new role at BNPP AM, Chen reports to Singapore-based Christian Bucaro, co-head of distribution Asia-Pacific, for matters relating to the commercial development of Taiwan and functionally to Ligia Torres, BNPP AM’s Chief Executive Officer Asia-Pacific who is based in Hong Kong. Chen also joins the organization’s Asia-Pacific regional leadership team.
